a place by the fire

“I want a house with a crowded table, and a place by the fire for everyone.” I don’t consider this new piece a Highwomen tattoo, though their lyrics from ‘Crowded Table’ resonate with me. Reminds me that I can always hold a nurturing place by my fire for anyone who needs it.

My new campfire is situated next to my Bríg (Brigid) tattoo, and it just felt right. In some pieces of Irish lore about Bríg they say she crafted the first whistle so that we could call to each other in the night. I love this imagery of calling to each other through the darkness so that we can sit by the fire together 🔥

And yes, in addition to wisdom, poetry, and healing she was also the goddess of smithing – a real quadruple threat, don’t you think? Stay bold, ladies.

I love Eddie Greer’s work (instagram: @rocksteadyeddie1980) at Nebraska Electric Tattoo Company and I’m so excited to wear this art. I’ve known his wife for years and their daughter is in my Girl Scout troop!

My Brigid tattoo (not really visible in this post) by is Cody Schneider at Scarlett Raven.
